My Writing Process : A ‘Blog Hop’ Tour
I was invited by the fabulous Andrea Buginsky, to partake in the Author Blog Hop by author Bryan Murphy, writer of speculative fiction, psychological drama, poetry and short plays. Andrea writes teen, middle grade and young adult novels like myself, and is a colleague + awesome best bud too!
Be sure to check out the awesome Andrea Buginsky's answers: http://www.andreabuginsky.com/author-blog-hop/Here's some info about me:
What are you working on?
I'm half-way through the third in the teen/vampire novel Only Human. I'm starting to feel a little sad because this might be the last in the series too, unless some unexpected, but gloriously interesting plot-twist leaps into my mind at the last minute. I get very attached to my characters as though they were real, and to think of not having them in my life after the final chapter is quite sad.
How does your work differ from others of its genre?
This is a difficult question! I guess each genre covers a wide spectrum of ideas – in fantasy you are not limited to write within the laws of physics, human abilities, or any universal laws at all, which is why I love it! The very fact that it is 'fantasy' makes it a personal and individual concept, and so I think every writer's fantasy is unique, and different to everyone else's.
Why do you write what you do?
Reality can be a big chunk of boring sometimes! Mortgage payments, laundry, bills from faceless companies arriving regularly and demanding money for this, that and the other! Writing fantasy, and particularly fantasy for the young, opens the door to a million weird, wonderful, and sometimes dangerous worlds. It is escapism at it's finest, and I for one revel in the uncertain, the unusual, the exotic, and the downright coolness of a limitless plot!
How does your writing process work?
The word 'process' implies organisational activities, and I'm afraid, that is not always the case. Within IndieYAbooks, the gang have sometimes referred to me as being organised, and I am totally bewildered as to how they came to that conclusion! Never-the-less, I will continue to nod and smile as if they were correct!
I guess I'm part impulse and part story-planner, when I'm writing. I can do an outline from an idea and follow that path, but more often than not, the plot will change a number of times as more thoughts occur to me. I have found that my characters work best when I decide their character before anything happens to them though, so I know how they will react before it does.
Thanks so much for checking in on our Blog Hop, and I hope you enjoyed the tidbits shared. Up next will be the fabulous Annamaria Bazzi, so here's a little bit about this fabulous lady & esteemed writer!
A horrible car accident destroys Dolores Reynard’s life. But instead of waking up in a hospital bed, she awakens in a teenager’s body. Soon, she discovers she is at the heart of the murderous mystery surrounding the death of Mona, the young girl whose body she occupies. Caught between an evil greater than she ever imagined and a wizard who heals her tattered heart, she is forced to play a dangerous game of intrigue in the hopes of finding a way to return to her previous life.
Although born in the United States, Annamaria Bazzi spent a great deal of her childhood in Sicily, Italy, in a town called Sciacca. Italian was the language spoken at home. Therefore, she had no problems when she found herself growing up in a strange country.
Upon returning to the states, she swore she would speak without an accent.
She attended Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Computers with a minor in Spanish.
Annamaria Bazzi spent twenty years programming systems for large corporations, creating innovative solution, and addressing customer problems. During those years she raised four daughters and one husband. Annamaria lives in Richmond Virginia with her small family where she now dedicates a good part of her day writing.
Magic is an illusion. It doesn’t really exist. Or does it?
