Only Human Kindle Countdown!

                           02/14/2014
     until
 02/20/2014
I just found the groovy timer on the right of this post!  If I hadn't already have organised a Countdown promotion for OH, I would have had to countdown to something with it! Call me a big kid, but I love it!

Kindle Countdown - What is it?

Basically, it is a new way of cutting the price of a book for a limited time, only it is much more interesting. The lowest price offered is the first price, and it must be at least $1.00 off the original price, but is usually more than that. Only Human is priced at $2.99 normally, so the initial discounted price will be $0.99. This discount will be displayed as long as the Author allows, in my case – 02/14/2014 - 02/16/2014. Kindle calls this the first incremented price, and I can spell that so that's fine! :-)

The second incremented price will be higher, but still a good discount from the original price of the ebook. Only Human will be $1.99 from 02/17/2014 -02/19/2014. The final day is when the ebook returns to it's normal price, in Only Human's case 02/20/2014 - $2.99.

There are many variations of this kind of promotion as it is largely up to the Author who decides how long – how many price changes - how much discount they will offer, within certain guidelines specified by Kindle themselves. An Author can run a price-cut for as little as one hour if they wish, or seven days as I have, with various time variations in between.

This is good news for readers who can obviously get their hands on some good deals, and great for Authors who have a new strategically organised way of offering their work. Adds a little excitement too , in my opinion, which is why I trawled through google until I could find something resembling a timer to post on this page. When the promotion is over, I promise you I will find something in my life which needs to be timed, whether it's how long it takes to chase my cats off the neighbour's beautiful roses, or how long it takes me to get the lads off Battlefield 12 million and seven, or whatever it is called – I will use this timer again!!

My Deal

I have pretty much told you all about this particular Countdown promotion for Only Human now, and I have blogged so much about this book in earlier posts (you can scroll down to 'Older Posts', click and read synopsis, excerpts and reviews). I'm not being lazy I promise, but I don't want to bore you with the same information over and over again. I will say that this book won the IBD award in October last year, and reviews average 4.3 out of 5 stars. If you like teen/young adult fantasy novels then you might be interested in taking a look while it is cut-price. I will just repeat the days of the offer which are 02/14/2014 - 02/16/2014 Price $0.99. 02/17/2014 - 02/19/2014 Price $1.99.

This particular deal is only in the US, but there will be a similar deal for the UK shortly. I will keep you posted.

Gripping Read!!

Dragonman: Face of the UnknownDragonman: Face of the Unknown by Ted Lazaris
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an edge of the seat story, which begins smack bang in the middle of an apocalyptic event. The end of the world is a topic which has intrigued mankind since the beginning of time, but in this story it is just the beginning; not the final annihilation of humankind. The foreign object hurtling towards the earth is merely the first sting of a battle that will consume the heavens above and the earth below.
The threat introduces the DragonMan; a superhero already living on our planet, with access to different worlds such as ‘Spellville’; and he is not alone with his incredible abilities, of which more are revealed as the story continues. His family, with which he runs the family business ‘Starr Investigations’, are also endowed with their own fascinating skills, which invite further investigations of their own. Other characters from Spellville include ’Plupee’ and ‘Dooley’ who add a little light comedy in the midst of such dark and dangerous occurrences. Another lead character is Nathan, who has no abilities except for his skill with a pen. Luke and Nathan's lives become intertwined in the midst of the first catastrophe, and when Nathan has a series of personal disasters, he seeks out their firm for help. Thus begins a rollercoaster of explosive tragedies, spectacular fantasy, and murder mystery. The Author leads you through each one in a well written, intriguing and captivating way.

In summary I would advise that you set the scene to read this novel. Get your cocoa, your pyjamas, and go to your private place; switch off the tv and ignore the kids for a while, and step into Ted Lazaris complex and fascinating world of the unusual, the bizarre, and the downright terrifying creatures you are about to meet.
